TNPL 2016: Huge blow for Dindigul Dragons as BCCI doesn`t clear R Ashwin for semi-finals
In the two matches he represented Dragons, Ashwin picked two wickets and scored 64 runs.
New Delhi: In the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2016, Dindigul Dragons suffered a major blow ahead of the semi-final after their premier off-spinner R Ashwin did not get the permission from the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI).
Considering the fact that the three-match Test series between India and New Zealand is set to begin soon, the Indian board did not give permission to Ashwin, who was also the skipper for Dragons.
According to a TOI source, “Dindigul management thought Ashwin would be available for the match as the national camp was scheduled from September 17. They were awaiting confirmation and clearance from BCCI. However, it didn’t happen.”
Dindigul Dragons will take on Tuti Patriots on Friday, September 16.
In the two matches he represented Dragons, Ashwin picked two wickets and scored 64 runs.
While Dragons are set to miss their skipper, it's good news for Patriots as Dinesh Karthik will join the squad in semis.
