While talking to Waqt News, the middle-order batsman explained that he and his brother Kamran Akmal are prone towards gaining weight.

"My and Kamran's physique is such that even if we drink water, it shows on our body. You won't believe that since the last two days, I have eaten no chapatis or biryani. I am just having barbeque and salads," he said.

When asked whether just consuming water leads to weight gain, Umar said, "Out of all the brothers, only Adnan has a physique where he won't gain weight irrespective of what he eats."

Umar was only player who was not selected for upcoming West Indies tour because of lack of fitness.

While Akmal failed to seal a spot in the team, his elder brother Kamran made a comeback in both the T20 and ODI sides after impressive outing in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League.

Kamran last played for Pakistan in a T20 match against West Indies in April, 2014.
