New Delhi: Despite trying hard in not doing anything controversial, Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal often grabs the spotlight for unwanted reasons. The 26-year-old who had earlier made headlines for his comparison with Indian skipper Virat Kohli, is now being made fun off for his comments on Misbah-ul-Haq's decision to retire from international cricket.

The 42-year-old Misbah had earlier announced that the upcoming Test series in the West Indies will be his final international assignment. When Umar was asked by a journalist about his thoughts on the matter, the 26-year-old ended up creating another blunder.

"Sabse pehle toh main Allah ka shukriya ada karta hoon (First of all, I'd like to thank Allah)," said Umar.

From describing a cricketer's death as "very nice", to misbehaving with the police, to starring in ridiculous music videos, the cricketer knows how to steal the spotlight no matter how his on-field performance has been.

Misbah will be playing the first of the three-Test series against the West Indies begins in Jamaica on April 21, followed by a Test in Barbados on April 30. The series concludes with the third and final Test in Dominica, starting on May 10.
