Karwa Chauth 2018: Moonrise timings in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu
This year Karwa Chauth is being celebrated on October 27, Saturday, 2018.
New Delhi: One of the most awaited festivals, 'Karwa Chauth' is here and the womenfolk can't be happier. It is that time of the year when married women observe a day-long fast for the long life of their husbands.
In fact, not just married women but unmarried girls also observe the Karwa Chauth fast to get desired husbands or for their fiance. Womenfolk throng markets, go shopping, the line-up at the counters of henna appliers or Mehendi wallas—enjoying their time during the day.
The day-long fast breaks only after the moon has risen and the necessary rituals performed. So, that's why the sighting of the moon is of utmost importance and remains long awaited on this auspicious festival.

According to Drikpanchang.com, the Tithi starts at 6:37 PM on October 27 and ends at 4:54 PM on the following day.
The moon is expected to rise at about 8.00 PM and the Puja Muhurat is between 5:36 to 6:54 PM on Saturday.
