The car was used by Kejriwal in the early days of his political journey. It was donated to the Aam Aadmi Party by a supporter Kundan Sharma who moved to another country.

The car was registered in AAP's name and was being used by party's media coordinator Vandana Singh.

Following the incident, the AAP slammed the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for "poor" law and order situation in the city. "Chief Minister's personal car was stolen today. There can never be a bigger question mark on the law and order situation (of Delhi)," AAP Chief Spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj had said.
