New Delhi: In a move to stamp out black money from economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
From today onwards, RBI will issue new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes.
However, those thinking that this idea clicked Modi just overnight must carefully read this article further.
The theory was proposed to the prime minister by a group of crusaders against black money led by an Aurgangabad-based chartered accountant Anil Bokil.
His group has been openly advocating the theory “ ArthaKranti” - revolution in economics – for some time now. The group is constantly demanding scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes from economy all these years.
Meeting with Modi
It was in July 2016 that Bokil discussed his idea of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes so as to curb the growing menance of black money.
If a report from Buzz Times is anything to go by, Bokil discussed his theory with Modi for two long hours against 8-minutes of initially alotted time.
