Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, on August 15, has announced its first 'Make-in-India' electric car project, which will launch in India in 2024. Details of the electric car were shared on the occasion of Independence Day 2022 as the EV has been in the rumours for long now. However, Bhavish Aggarwal confirmed the debut of the car on 15 August on the occasion of Independence Day. The confirmation came via a short video shared by Aggarwal on his Twitter handle, folowed by an elaborate announcement made today, on August 15, apart from other products launched in India.

As per Ola Electric, the new and upcoming electric car will be India's first fully India-made electric car using company's Made-in-India operating system MoveOS, also used in Ola electric scooters, and also will run on Made-in-India battery cells, giving it a range of over 500 km on a single charge (claimed). The car will be able to do 0-100 kmph in 4 seconds and will have an all glass roof. The car is expected to launch in 2024, as per the annoucement.

Earlier, Aggarwal posted a video of Ola's impending electric car on Twitter. In the video, a red car is running on a road with only its rear wheels visible. "Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost. See you on August 15, 2pm," Aggarwal wrote.

As seen in the teaser, the electric car has a clean profile with one strong character line down the middle, based on what is shown in the video. It also doesn't appear to have a door for the second row, which raises the question of whether it will be a two-seater model or feature standard rear seats.

It is to be noted that August 15 has been a significant date in the history of Ola Electric, hence the launch date for the new vehicle. The significance of the date can be understood as the EV manufacturer launched its first electric scooters on the date. Both the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro were first seen on the date. However, the company has been only selling the S1 Pro models in India.
