Srinagar, May 18: The Jammu and Kashmir government has said that the army would not be deployed for the state's internal security and BSF deployment would also be phased out in the coming months.
"There is no question of putting army on internal security duties. In fact, it was the BSF which was deployed in Kashmir and that too is being phased out by CRPF in the next three to four months," state chief secretary Sudhir S Bloeria said during an interaction with Indian foreign service probationers yesterday. Lauding efforts of army, BSF, CRPF and state police in fighting militancy, he said steps were being taken to ensure the "honourable" return of Kashmiri migrants to the valley. Bureau Report
Bloeria said flats were being constructed for Kashmiri pandits in Mattan and Pattan where they are living in groups. Expressing hope of revival of tourism in the state, Bloeria said the industry is all set to be back with a bang as tourists are thronging the valley in large numbers.
Bloeria also expressed hope of a systematic growth in the information technology sector in the state. "60 blocks in J&K have already been taken up under the ambitious community information centres programme while remaining will have connectivity by next financial year which would revolutionise the state's infrastructure to keep pace with modern trends," he said.

With larger connectivity through rail link, which is likely to reach Baramulla within the next three-and-half years, there is bound to be a phenomenonal growth in the state's socio-economic development, he added. Bureau Report
