Sri Lankan CoD visits LoC in J&K
New Delhi, Dec 08: The Sri Lankan Chief of Defence Staff Lt Gen L P Balagalle today became the first foreign army chief to visit the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir after the recent Indo-Pak ceasefire.

chief to visit the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir after
the recent Indo-Pak ceasefire.
Balagalle, accompanied by 15 Corps Commander Lt Gen
Nirbhay Sharma, visited some of forward posts in Uri sector in
Baramulla district of Kashmir valley. Later he had extensive
interaction with senior army officers at Corp headquarters.
Balagalle began his three-day visit to India with a tour of the LoC. He will hold meetings with Chief of Army Staff Gen N C Vij and his deputy Lt Gen Shantanu Choudhary tomorrow.
The Sri Lankan chief will also hold discussions with chairman chiefs of staff committee and naval chief Admiral Madhvendera Singh, Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy and also call on Defence Minister George Fernandes.
