New Delhi, July 27: Congress today accused BJP-led government of "conspiring to distabilise" party's government in the sensitive state of Arunachal Pradesh to fulfill its
"narrow political objectives".
"It is a BJP conspiracy in the state. The Union Home Ministry has been conspiring to destabilise the Congress ruled sensitive border state", AICC general secretary and
chairperson of media department Ambika Soni told a news agency.
Accusing BJP, she said, "They can go any extent to fulfil their narrow political ends" and added that they have been attempting to do this for quite some time.
They have been talking about "operation hurricane" to deal with the insurgency problem faced by the border state, "but did nothing" inspite of the requests made by chief minister Mukuth Mithi and senior central Congress leaders, she said. "Senior Congress leaders, including myself alongwith Mithi, met home minister several times on the problems of the state, but nothing was done", Soni said.
Meanwhile, party sources said Mithi's action a few months back against some party leaders allegedly involved in corruption was exploited by BJP which l led to the situation.
AICC general secretary incharge of the state Oscar Fernandes said the party was keeping a close watch on the development and constantly in touch with the chief minister.
