New Delhi, Feb 29: Describing the elections for the 14th Lok Sabha as one of the most mammoth exercises in the world, Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurthy today said the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), in all constituencies, would ensure secrecy and total neutrality during the elections. Krishnamurthy also dispelled apprehensions over the functioning of the machinery which had earlier created problems in the United States' elections.

However, it would be for the first time in India's electoral history that EVMs would be used in all the parliamentary constituencies.

''As many as 1.075 million EVMs would be used during four-phased Lok Sabha polls and simultaneous elections to four assemblies,'' he told reporters at a press conference here. Bureau Report
