Shimla, Feb 08: BJP general secretary and spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that the party has taken a very serious view of the raids conducted on the premises of Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his relatives yesterday.

Addressing a press conference here, Naqvi said that the party would not be content merely with an apology and would give a befitting reply to the "deleterious campaign" launched by Punjab chief minister Amrinder Singh against Dhumal. Naqvi said that the Congress was trying to run away from basic issues like development, security and prosperity and raking up irrelevant issues and resorting to falsehood and lies to damage the image of BJP. The BJP spokesman said that Amrinder Singh was rattled by the defamation suit filed against him by Dhumal and was now acting in panic.

The BJP did not want to deviate from its agenda of security and development but in reply to the campaign launched by some Congress leaders, it was compelled to raise issues like theft and smuggling of antique idols of gods and goddesses.
He said that Janata Party leader Subramanium Swamy had filed a case against AICC president Sonia Gandhi in this regard and it was for the Punjab chief minister to name the leaders who had benefitted from smuggling of antiques.
On the criticism of the Union Government's appeal to the Supreme Court on the Ayodhya issue, he said that the Opposition did not want the issue to be resolved and hence were criticising the government.
