Patna, Mar 01: Congress today denied any second opinion about leadership of Sonia Gandhi in the ''secular front'' and refused to accept anybody else other than the leader of the largest party as the prime ministerial candidate. Talking to reporters here, chief spokesman of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) H K Verma said the party had already projected Gandhi as the front's candidate in the race for the office of the prime minister and her choice was ''natural'', since she headed the largest party in the front. When his attention was drawn to the attempt of RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav to project Ram Vilas Paswan as an alternative to Sonia Gandhi, Verma dismissed the statement as ''a talk in a lighter vein''. He appealed to all to ignore such statements since Yadav might have made the remark in the context of absence of a leader in the secular front, who could be projected as a prime ministerial candidate. Verma emphasised on strengthening the secular front to inflict a crushing defeat on communal forces led by BJP in the coming polls rather that wasting time and energy in talking about 'trifle matters'. Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan subscribed to the views of the Congress in respect of choosing the leader of the secular front, once it secured a majority in Lok Sabha and said the alliance practice vested the right to nominate the leader to the largest party. He challenged the claim of the NDA about absence of dispute over the leadership of Atal Bhari Vajpayee and observed that Lal Krishna Advani might emerge as the prime ministerial candidate from NDA in the post poll situation, if the RSS lobby came out dominant in BJP.
