Rajouri, Oct 04: Security forces today recovered around 20 kg of RDX from suspected Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami militant hideout from Thana Mandi in Rajouri sector. Acting on a lead from a blast in Rajouri two weeks back, the security forces tracked down the militants’ hideout where they were manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The militants opened fire on the forces, and two militants were gunned down in the ensuing clash. Security officials said that 5 kg of RDX was recovered in a tiffin carrier, and this was probably set aside for a planned strike in Rajouri sector. Rajouri sector has always been very sensitive to infiltration and officials have not ruled out the possibility of the militants having planned other strikes in the area for which the recovered explosives would have been used. They said that search operations are being carried out in neighbouring areas of the sector. Bureau Report
