Jammu, Oct 31: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has held that a woman will not lose her status as the permanent resident of the state if she marries to a non-resident. This observation was made by Justice Pramod Kohli in a writ petition recently filed by one Renu Bala of Jammu and Kashmir who had married to an outsider.

She had approached the court after objections were raised on this issue in her case for selection of teaching guide in a primary school.

Disposing off the petition, Justice Kohli said merely on this basis that the husband is not a permanent resident of the state, she will not lose her status of the permanent resident after her marriage as has been decided by the full bench of this court.
