San Antonio, June 19: An estimated 200,000 San Antonio fans got an up-close and personal look at the 2003 NBA champions. Players and local San Antonio personalities, floated by loads of cheering "Spurs" fans along the city's river walk. The crowd erupted when Malik Rose came by with the championship trophy raised over his head. Center Tim Duncan, was the most valuable player of the NBA finals in 1999 and in 2003 for the Spurs. The 2003 championship marks the end of a 14-year career for all-star center, David Robinson, who is retiring. Robinson, who spent his entire career with the Spurs, was recently voted one of the NBA's 50 greatest players. The Spurs beat the New Jersey Nets 88-77 on sunday (June 15) to win the best-of-7 series 4 to 2.
