Hyderabad, Dec 19: Even while accusing the
opposition Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of
supporting Naxalites, TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief
Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today made it clear that his
government would not invoke Pota against political parties or
opponents.
Apparently weighed by adverse political consequences of
such a move, Naidu said "we will not resort to political
vengeance. We will leave it to people to decide (in the coming
elections)."
He, however, reiterated his charge that the opposition parties were "openly encouraging" the outlawed extremist outfit people's war group (PWG) to garner "cheap political mileage".
Asked at a press conference here whether his government would invoke provisions of the anti-terrorist act Pota against the opposition leaders, Naidu replied in the negative but said his party would make the issue one of its poll planks and leave it to the people to judge.
