London, Dec 01: British Airways will today resume flights to Pakistan, following their suspension in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorists strikes on the US in 2001. BA will operate flights from London to Islamabad on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while the return flights will leave Islamabad on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, Pakistan's official news agency reported.
The news agency said that "a lot of political and diplomatic endeavours" were needed to convince BA to resume flights to Pakistan.
"We are delighted that we are now able to resume our flights to Islamabad. As the only European carrier operating flights to the northern region of the country, we provide an important link between Europe and Pakistan. We look forward to being able to offer our customers a direct service once again," said British Airways director Dale Moss.
The airlines said that it was satisfied with the security arrangements at Islamabad airport. Bureau Report
