New Delhi, Nov 03: Government today issued a notice to Reliance Infocomm for not adhering to the condition of keeping WLL mobile services within local call area. The department of telecom issued the notice to Reliance, giving the company 30 days to take corrective action, sources said.
Last week, the cabinet had taken note of the alleged non-adherence of licence conditions by the largest WLL operator and had decided to issue a notice to reliance, even as the company had maintained that it would not allow its customers to suffer.
Following the cabinet meeting Communications Minister Arun Shourie had said the company would be given a time of 30 days to reply.
Non-compliance in the subsequent month could lead to termination of Reliance's licence.
Shourie had, however, clarified that the company had the option of moving to unified licence by paying additional entry fee as prescribed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Bureau Report
