Jammu, Mar 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and
Kashmir has said its candidate from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha
constituency, Nirmal Singh, will contest the seat and the
''legal problem'' would be dealt with in the court.
Talking to reporters, minister of state for defence and BJP
nominee for Udhampur-Doda constituency Chaman Lal Gupta said the
party has taken note of the legal problem arising out a High
Court decision which temporarily barred state BJP chief Nirmal
Singh and others from taking part in the election process.
State BJP spokesman Hari Om, who is one of those affected by the
court decision, said none of the petition respondents had received
any court notice in this regard so far.
He said as per the news reports, the decision came on March 17.
''Even though seven days have passed then, we have not
received any intimation from the High Court, which puts a question
mark on the whole issue.''
