Mumbai, Feb 14: Veteran Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee today said that his party is not in favour of simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Maharashtra. ''The party is not in favour of simultaneously holding both polls in Maharashtra,'' Mukherjee, who arrived here from Pune, told a press conference at the party office in south Mumbai. The Congress Working Committee (CWC) member said that the final rounds of talks to work out the details of the alliance with Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be held on February 21. He, however, refused to share any details of the talks held till now and said that ''half-baked information'' could not be shared. ''Let the details be finalised. We will announce it,'' he said when asked about the formula being adopted for seat sharing. ''Patterns and trends on the alliance could not be disclosed now now,'' he added. The Congress and NCP are the major alliance partners in the Democratic Front government in Maharashtra. When asked about the changing stances of Pawar, Mukherjee said ''Any alliance is on the basis of trust''. He was very ''optimistic'' about the talks between the two parties till date. Bureau Report
