Jammu, May 11: Focussing on the development of a road network in the state, Jammu and Kashmir government has submitted 40 road projects to the Centre, Minister of State for Roads and buildings Abdul Rehman Veeri said. "We have submitted 40 road projects to ministry of surface transport for over Rs 100 crores to speed up road network development in troubled Jammu and Kashmir recently," veeri, who also holds the portfolio of law and parliamentary affairs, told a news agency today.

Veeri, a senior PDP leader, said the ministry has agreed to sanction on spot five of the 40 projects costing Rs 1151 crore. These projects, include a prestigious Rs four crore Tikri-Katra Road, a Rs 3.10 crore bridge near Dal Lake in Srinagar, a Rs 1.23 crore Sai-Dabler Border road in Jammu, Rs 0.99 crore bridge at Saida Kadal in Srinagar, and Rs 2.29 crore nine km bridge at Sonamargh in Baramulla district, the minister said.

Veeri, who was elected for the second time from Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad sayeed's home constituency Bijbihara in south Kashmir with thumping majority in 2002 October elections said, "We will build a new Kashmir road network". Bureau Report
