New Delhi, July 17: A city court hearing the Nitish Katara murder case today issued a bailable warrant of arrest against Bharti Yadav, daughter of Rajya Sabha MP D P Yadav, following her failure to appear in court despite repeated summons.
Issuing the bailable warrant for an amount of Rs 25,000, additional Sessions Judge S N Dhingra also directed that the same be served on Bharti through the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as she is in the United Kingdom.
The warrant is returnable for August 29. The order comes a day after mea sought more time to serve the summons on Bharti, who is a prime witness in the case. It is Katara's alleged proximity to her, which according to the prosecution, irked accused Vikas and Vishal Yadav, son and nephew of the MP, and led to the murder.
Though she had already been summoned twice, the orders returned unserved saying she had left for the UK.
The ASJ also issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Ashok Bhadoria, an officer of Madhya Pradesh Police, who is also a key witness in the case, saying he was deliberately evading the service of summons on him.
Bhadoria, according to the prosecution case, had arrested the accused from Dabra in Gwalior.
The police official had pleaded ill health for not appearing in the court on earlier occasions. However, as the court observed, he was not getting treated in any government hospital.
