Dhaka, Nov 29: More than a hundred lives were lost in violence and accidents during the Eid festival in Bangladesh, media reports said today. While over 50 people were killed in road accidents, more than 40 lives were lost in violence, newspapers reported.
Around 65 people were killed and 208 injured in road accidents during the Eid holidays that began on Tuesday and ended yesterday, mass circulated vernacular daily Prothom Alo said.
The Daily Jugantor reported that 41 people were murdered across the country during the holidays, noting that the law and order situation deteriorated further during November even though it was the holy month of Ramadan.
