New Delhi, Oct 20: Kerala Chief Minister A K Antony today had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the first after the party's recent debacle in Ernakulam Lok Sabha bypoll.
The Chief Minister is understood to have given his analysis of the bypoll outcome and political situation in the state to the Congress president to enable the high command to take a decision.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of senior leader K Karunakaran taking his "remove Antony" campaign to the high command, by telling Gandhi last week that there was no future for the Congress so long as Antony continued at the helm of the affairs in the state.
On Saturday, Antony had appeared before the three-member L P Shahi Committee probing the causes of Congress party's debacle in Ernakulam.
On complaints of anti-party activities against the party's candidate, the Congress High Command had appointed the committee even before the poll results were announced.
