New Delhi, Sept 26: A group of expert doctors today declared Samajwadi Party MLA Amar Mani Tripathi "fit" to undergo the polygraphy test in connection with the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla after they examined him when he claimed he was medically unfit to take to any such test.
Highly-placed CBI sources said Tripathi was taken to the Safdarjung hospital this evening and examined by a group of doctors, including a cardiologist. The doctors have given a written statement that Tripathi was fit for the polygraphy test and was completely hale and hearty, the sources said.
The move came after Tripathi had given in writing to his investigators that he was medically unfit for the polygraphy test in reply to a final notice by the agency advising him for the test failing which it could be held against him.
Tripathi`s lawyers had earlier claimed that he had given a written undertaking to the CBI that he would undergo a lie detector test provided he was examined by an expert cardiologist at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
Meanwhile, the CBI quizzed Desraj, Madhumita`s domestic help, at the CBI headquarters. Desraj was questioned by the CBI after they conducted a psychological test on him to find out whether he had made his statement under pressure.
