NFL disinvestment deferred for two yrs: Dhindsa
Ludhiana, Sept 14: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has agreed to defer disinvestment by at least two years in National Fertiliser Ltd (NFL), Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said here
Ludhiana, Sept 14: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has agreed to defer disinvestment by at least two years in National Fertiliser Ltd (NFL), Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said here
"Only last week I had a long meeting on the issue with the
Prime Minister during which he had expressed that in the light
of the demand and supply situation of urea in the market, it
would be too premature to disinvest in NFL at this stage,"
Dhindsa told reporters here.
The new buyer may cause unforeseen problems to the farmers on both, the availability as well as the price front by changing his systems or re-orienting them towards some different production he said adding that the government could not take any chances where the welfare and future of the farmers was directly involved
Dhindsa who is also secretary general of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said that his party would bring a no- confidence motion against the Congress government led by Amarinder Singh in Punjab in the next session of the state assembly beginning on September 24 only if there were any chances of it being carried through.
However, a decision on whether or not to bring the motion would be taken by the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party, he said.
