A Delhi court on Monday issued fresh warrants against two Red Fort shootout case accused, currently lodged in a Jammu jail, directing the police to produce them before it by January 3.
Additional sessions judge M S Sabharwal, who had asked the police to bring accused Farooq Ahmad Quasid and Nazir Ahmad Quasid from Jammu and produce them before him on Monday, issued fresh production warrants after he was informed that the duo had been taken to Srinagar in connection with some other case when the Delhi Police team visited Jammu.
Besides the two accused, police have chargesheeted Pakistani national Arif alias Ashfaq, his Indian wife Rehmana Yusuf Farooqi, Matloob Alam, Mool Chand Sharma, Babar Mohsin Bhagwala, Shahanshah Alam, Devender Singh, Rajiv Kumar Malhotra and one Atharuddin alias Abdullah.
Abdullah, a resident of V B Chaupatia in Lucknow, is said to be currently living in Saudi Arabia.
The accused have been charged under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. Ashfaq has been charged under the Foreigners Act too.
A two-member Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) gang stormed the 17th century historic monument here on December 22 last and killed two armymen and a civilian.
Asfaq, an LeT militant, and Rehmana were nabbed on December 26 last following an encounter in Jamia Nagar here in which another militant was killed. Rest of the accused were arrested later for allegedly helping the LeT militants. Bureau Report
