Agartala, June 21: Using rockets for the first time in Tripura, militants attacked security forces even as they killed four persons in separate incidents since last night, police said today. Two groups of the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) fired rockets at a CRPF camp in Jirania and the battalion headquarters of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in the same area last night, the police said.

The attacks appeared to be pre-planned as the rockets were fired at the same time, the police said.

No casualty was reported in the rocket attack.

In a separate incident, a group of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents, hiding in a forest, fired upon a van at Mungiabari area on Assam-Agartala Highway in West Tripura district last night killing one passenger and injuring three.

The deceased was identified as Jogesh Debbarma, a government employee.

Meanwhile, another group of NLFT insurgents raided Kantarjala village of the same district last night and stormed the house of one Prangaur Das and tried to kidnap his son.

The insurgents opened fire killing the mother of the house owner.

In another incident, a group of NLFT insurgents raided Baligaon, a border village at Kamalpur subdivision in Dhalai district last night and shot dead one person and kidnapped another.
The ultras stormed the house of one Sudhan Nandi, a school teacher and tried to kidnap him but when the family members raised an alarm neighbours came rushing and were fired upon by the ultras.

One person died on the spot and the ultras kidnapped the school teacher.
