The CBI is likely to chargesheet RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra in one of the fodder scam cases.
Bihar Governor V C Pandey sanctioned the CBI to prosecute the VIP politicians, including Mr Yadav and Dr Mishra, in the case which involved Rs 182 crore, the maximum money in a single case. Sources at the CBI said a final chargesheet would soon be filed in the court to prosecute Mr Yadav and all other 175, accused in the case. Higher officials of the agency held a meeting to discuss their future strategy.
This case involved a number of accused and the CBI had to seek sanction from different authorities as some of the accused required it. In view of the sanction, besides the two VIP politicians, the CBI might prosecute two former Animal Husbandry Department Ministers Chandra Dev Prasad Verma and Vidya Sagar Nishad, five IAS officers of the state namely K Arumugam, Mahesh Prasad, Beck Julius, Hulchand Singh and M C Suverno.
