Kathmandu, Oct 22: A grenade attack by Maoist
rebels in Nepal injured five people, including two children,
police said today.
A group of rebels tossed the grenade at a drinks
stall where two soldiers were drinking tea, a police officer
said on condition of anonymity.
The soldiers escaped unhurt but the owner, his wife and 9-year-old son were injured, the officer said. Their neighbour and her 3-year-old daughter were also hurt in the attack at Junelimineli village, about 500 kilometers west of Kathmandu, he said.
An army helicopter flew the injured to a hospital.
Fighting between the rebels and government troops has escalated since the guerrillas pulled out of peace talks in august, ending a seven-month cease-fire.
