Indianapolis, Oct 02: Jacques Villeneuve has received heavy praise from his former team boss, Sir Frank Williams. According to Sir Frank, the Canadian deserves people’s admiration and not scorn for his decision to join BAR in 1999. Villeneuve has received a lot of flack regarding that decision as some feel he chose money over being competitive. However, Sir Frank believes JV’s determination to try and turn BAR into a race winning team shows strength of character, not greed.
"You can't fault his loyalty. He can't be blamed for what he did," Williams tells the October issue of Formula 1 Magazine. "The facts are that Jacques chose to move to a team and remain loyal to a team that, despite the fanfare, never quite got into the first group."

"What we have here is one of the basic tenets of Formula One: no matter how good he is, a driver is always coloured by his car. Put Michael in a Minardi and he might move it up the grid a few rows. But no more. Give Jacques a better car and I'm sure he'll do better."
