Ajmer, Apr 22: Rajasthan BJP today alleged that Gehlot government was using "outdated British laws" against VHP leaders in the state and raising the trident issue to divert people's attention from its "failure on all fronts". VHP leader Praveen Togadia was booked under Section 121-a, conspiracy to overawe the government, which was used by British rulers against freedom fighters like Subhash Chandra Bose and Veer Savarkar, state unit chief Vasundhara Raje told reporters.
"But the Gehlot government is booking VHP men under this section of IPC for peacefully organising dharam sabhas and 'trishul diksha' ceremonies," she said.

It is an outdated law which revives memories of emergency period, Raje said.
"By doing so the Gehlot government is trying to divert people's attention from its own failure on every front," she alleged.

While people have been agitating all over the state against the government's "complete failure" in solving problems of drought, electricity and water supply, the Congress government was trying raise the issue of 'trishul' to divert people's attention, she said.
