Patna, June 25: Bihar Assembly today witnessed a piquant situation when the ruling RJD MLA, Ram Swarath Rai, demanded resignation of road construction minister Mahabali Singh for allegedly misleading the house.
Rai alleged that the reply of the minister in the assembly that the vehicular traffic on
Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi-Sonebersa Road resumed was false and demanded his resignation.
The minister, replying to a question, said that the vehicular traffic on the road resumed from today following repair of the bailey bridge connecting Sitamarhi district with the rest of Bihar. The RJD MLA said he had definite information that vehicular traffic on the road had not resumed since the bridge was yet to be repaired. He also wanted to know from the minister as to how much money was spent on the repair of the bridge.
Rai also demanded constitution of a house committee to probe the matter which was immediately supported by the opposition members. Leader of the opposition Sushil Kumar Modi said the reply of the minister was not satisfactory and demanded formation of a house committee to probe the veracity of Rai's allegation.
Modi said Rai had also wanted to know as to when the construction work for Kathauja bridge for which the Centre had sanctioned Rs 11.42 crore six months back would commence. Later the speaker, Sadanand Singh, asked the minister to reply the question on June 28.
