Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has announced setting up of FICCI-Care Gujarat Rehabilitation Project (FCGRP), with initial corpus of half-a-million dollars, to help the quake-affected villages in Gujarat. This follows industry chambers` assertion last week that they will each adopt a village cluster in quake-ravaged Gujarat and begin rehabilitation work there.
FICCI has partnered with international relief organisation care for the purpose, for which US soft drinks major Pepsico has donated the half-a-million dollars, and the project aims at building 4,000 houses over the next three-four years in the quake-affected areas. FICCI and Care have already set up this projct, for which all international help will flow into the care account in USA. Pepsico holdings is contributing 500,000 dollars into this account. “We believe at least 4,000 houses can be constructed in Gujarat with this fund,” FICCI President Chirayu R Amin said. He said all Indian contribution towards this project will flow into FICCI`s socio-economic foundation, which will then be transferred to the project.
Under the project, FICCI plans to build houses, schools, dispensaries and other structures needed at a particular village cluster for speedy rehabilitation. Bureau Report
