Members of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development
Organization( KEDO), met in New York
for informal talks, including discussion of the 4.6 billion
dollars project to build two energy-generating reactors in
North Korea.
"What was discussed at the meeting was suspending the project for one year. Nothing more or nothing less," South Korean Foreign Minister Yoon Young-Kwan said in Seoul.
"This issue has not been officially decided. It was discussed,'' he said.
KEDO spokesman Roland Tricot said that the board "discussed the future of the LWR project, including an approach to the question of suspension," and that the issue had been sent back to the member nations' governments.
He said in a statement that an announcement would be made no later than November 21. Bureau Report
