Guwahati, Nov 29: The All-Assam Students' Union today suspended all agitations for 15 days till the situation returns to normal in the state. The AASU president, Prabin Boro, told reporters here today that the agitational programmes of the students' body demanding complete reservation for locals in Central government organisations had been suspended temporarily till complete peace returns to the state.

Boro charged Central and state governments with having digressed from the main issue of job reservation for locals and were instead focussing on violence against Biharis by linking the Ulfa and ISI.

He also urged the state government to ensure that there was 100 per cent job reservation for locals in all government organisations in the state. He demanded that railway minister, Nitish Kumar, arrange compensation for train passengers attacked by miscreants in Bihar.
The AASU also demanded that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani visit the Indo-Bangla border in Assam for a first-hand knowledge of the unabated influx of Bangladeshis, repeal of the illegal migrants determination by tribunal and implementation of the Assam-accord clauses within a definite time-frame.
