After weeks of intimidation and atrocities perpetrated on minority Hindus and others in Bangladesh, opposition leader Sheikh Hasina has asked the minorities to retaliate and attack any further attack. No more wailing and woes, build up resistance and retaliate if any further attack comes, she told several meetings in southwestern Bangladesh attended largely by minorities.
Hasina on the second-day of her six-day tour of several districts in south west, on Tuesday consoled many minorities mostly women some of whom are even elected leaders in their locality at Ramsil, Kotalipara, Gopalganj. It was in Ramsil that saw thousands of Hindus taken shelter after being attacked by terrorists in neighbouring Barisal district.
Hasina held ruling BNP-Jamaat coalition responsible for the attack on minorities who faced looting, rape, torture and killing and that similar situation prevailed in all villages and unions where people voted for Awami League. While asking the law enforcers to ensure security of the commoners, the former Prime Minister announced that she would tour the country and build up resistance. She said the repressors would not be spared.
Bangladesh has around 13 percent minorities out of which around 90 percent are Hindus and most attacks were targeted at them.
Hasina, who earlier accused the caretaker government of Justice Latifur Rahman for not taking action to stop attack on minorities, on accused justice Shahabuddin Ahmed for the crime.
