New Delhi, Feb 26: The government proposes to amend the RPF Act and the Railway Act to provide better security to passengers, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar told the Lok Sabha while presenting the Railway Budget for 2003-04 today. He said active consultations were on with concerned ministries to give a final shape to the proposal to amend the two acts in order to provide enhanced powers to the RPF.
Kumar said to strengthen the Railway Protection Force and the Railway Protection Special Force, recruitment of over 3,500 constables would be done through the railway recruitment board in 2003-04. Bureau Report
