New Delhi, Nov 29: India's wireless in local loop - mobility subscriber base has touched 4.40 lakh, according to the latest figures by Association of Basic Telecom Operators (ABTO). As per the data, the total subscribers of WLL-M in the country are now 4.40 lakh, with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL's) subscriber base pegged at 2.25 lakh, as on date.
Another state-owned company Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd, which operates in Delhi and Mumbai, now has a WLL-M subscriber base of 65,000.

During this period, the subscriber base of private operators, stood at 1.5 lakh.
According to ABTO the total addition in limited mobility subscriber base has been about 30,000 within the past one month.
It may be recalled the cellular operators had moved Supreme Court, earlier this year, against an order of a telecom tribunal, which had upheld govenment's decision to allow basic operators in the country to offer limited mobility services. Bureau Report
