BJP MLAs to elect Uma Bharati as official leader
Bhopal, Dec 07: Newly elected BJP MLAs would meet here today to elect Uma Bharati, who steered the party to an unprecedented landslide victory in the state, as their leaderto make her the first woman Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

The meeting of the 173 bjp legislators would be held at the state party headquarters where Union Minister Ram Naik and party national vice-president Pyarelal Khandelwal would be present as observers, party sources said.
Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley, who was the in-charge of BJP`s poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh, and party state unit president Kailash Joshi would also be present at the meeting.
Bharati`s election would only be a formality as she had been projected by the BJP as its Chief Ministerial candidate in the run-up to the assembly elections.
Soon after her election as the BJP legislature party, Bharati would drive down to the Raj Bhavan and convey the decision of the party MLAs to Governor Ram Prakash Gupta.
Bharti would be sworn-in tomorrow at the historic Lal Parade ground where political parties generally organise rallies.
Elaborate security arrangements are being made for the grand ceremony as a large number of people, including BJP workers, are expected to attend the function.
Meanwhile, newly elected BJP members are arriving here for the first legislature party meeting.
