New Delhi, Feb 25: The Supreme Court today reserved its verdict on a special leave petition (SLP) seeking cancellation of bail granted by the Patna High Court to independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, an accused in the murder of trade union leader Ajit Sarkar in 1998. The judgement on the SLP filed by Kalyan Chandra Sarkar, brother of Ajit Sarkar, was reserved by a bench of Justice Santosh Hegde and Justice B P Singh on conclusion of arguments from both sides. Earlier appearing for the petitioner senior counsel Rohintan Nariman contended that six of the witnesses have turned hostile after Pappu Yadav was released on bail. He said that if he continued to remain on bail he would influence other witnesses as well and therefore his bail must be cancelled. Senior counsel K T S Tulsi appearing for the independent MP said there was no evidence to link this crime with the conspiracy to murder Sarkar. CBI counsel K K Sood produced before the court statements of witness linking Pappu Yadav with the conspiracy to murder Sarkar. Bureau Report
