Los Angeles, July 11: US action star and would-be politician Arnold Schwarzenegger has not yet decided whether to run for Governor of California if special elections are called this year, an aide said.
The Austrian-born star of the "Terminator" will not announce whether he will challenge the cash-strapped US state's embattled Governor Gray Davis for the job until his latest movie has opened all over the world.
"Arnold is concentrating on his movie work right now and won't make any decision on whether to run until "Terminator 3" has opened in all foreign markets," his political advisor George Gorton said yesterday. "Terminator 3: The rise of the machines" is due to make its remaining overseas debuts between July 20 and August 15, Gorton said, cautioning however that "Arnie's" decision could be further delayed if the prospective gubernatorial polls only take place in March.
Opponents of Democrat Davis earlier this week claimed victory in their bid to trigger early polls that could oust the Governor and scupper his second four-year term that only began six months ago. They said they had gathered 1,088,646 signatures from voters demanding fresh elections, more than the 897,148 needed to spark polls that could see the "terminator" launch his long-mooted political career.
