New Delhi, Feb 26: The Election Commission today said it is yet to finalise the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls and the dates would be announced after considering various factors. ''We have yet to finalise the poll schedule,'' deputy election commissioner A N Jha told.
He said the commission is ''fine-tuning'' the poll arrangements in consultation with the Centre and state governments.
The commission yesterday said it had completed collecting details of various board and competitive examinations across the country for finalisation of the Lok Sabha poll schedule. The last of the examinations will take place in Tamil Nadu on April 16 and in Orissa on April 17. However, Jha refused to indicate if the poll process would begin only after April 17.
The examinations include the 10th and 12th class boards, both Central and state-level, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and medical and engineering entrances, he said.
The exam schedule was one of the components that went into deciding the poll programme as most of the school buildings were used for conducting the elections, he elaborated.
