Jehanabad, June 07: Suspected extremists kidnapped four labourers from a brick kiln in Toorkol village under Parasbigh police station of Bihar's Jehanabad district late last night and later gunned down three of them while one was seriously injured, police today said. An armed group of extremists swooped on the kiln owned by one Ajay Singh and took four labourers with them on gun-point, police said. Later, the extremists sprayed bullets on the hapless labourers at a place under Kurtha police station of neighbouring Arwal district. However, one of them managed to escape with serious injuries, they said.

The extremist group has yet not been identified, but police suspects the attack was related to the extremists' bid to intimidate the brick kiln owner to pay extortion money.

The dead have been identified as Rajdeo Singh, Ram Iqbal Singh and Kameshwar Manjhi while the injured was Basudeo Ram, who was admitted to Sadar hospital here.

Irked over the incident, the villagers today did not allow the district administration to lift the bodies for post-mortem, police said. Senior police and civil officials have rushed to the village to look into the matter.
