Muslim board apprehensive about bill regarding temple construction
Lucknow, July 08: All India Muslim Personal Law Board today expressed the apprehension that BJP might bring a bill in the forthcoming session of the Parliament for the Ram temple construction at Ayodhya in order to create a `communal divide` and gain `political mileage` in the coming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Lucknow, July 08: All India Muslim Personal Law Board today expressed the apprehension that BJP might bring a bill in the forthcoming session of the Parliament for the Ram temple construction at Ayodhya in order to create a "communal divide" and gain "political mileage" in the coming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP could bring such a bill in the Lok Sabha and let
it be defeated with a view to whipping up communal passions in
the election year, AIMPLB spokesman Dr S Q R Iliyas told.
He, however, said that such a move would be suicidal' as the people of the country would not allow themselves to be exploited in the name of such emotive issues'.
Referring to the VHP president Ashok Singhal's statement that the only way to resolve the temple issue was to enact a law by the Parliament, Iliyas said that the majority of the people in the country would ensure that no injustice was done to anyone.
Moreover enactment of law by the Parliament for construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya would set a wrong precedent as it would be tantamount to depriving a particular community of its religious rights, he said.
“If this were to happen, the religious rights and places of worship of no community would remain safe,” Iliyas said.
