Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 27: The Congress in Kerala today said the list of party candidates for the Lok Sabha election will be finalised by March 02.
''I am confident that I will be able to go to Delhi with a unanimous list on the same day,'' KPCC acting president P P Thankachan told newspersons here after a meeting of the Congress election committee attended by Chief Minister A K Antony and veteran leader K Karunakaran.
Stating that acceptability of a person by voters would be the main criteria for selection of candidates, he said seats would not be allotted merely on group basis. He expressed the hope that all the coalition partners in the ruling United Democratic Front would accept its request to retain the seat-sharing formula of previous elections of 17 seats for the Congress, two for the IUML and one for the Kerala Congress (M).
He said the Congress' main election plank would be the ''BJP-led government's neglect'' towards the state and the ''anti-development attitude'' of the Marxist-led Left Democratic Front.
He said the KPCC would request the AICC to accept the deposit of Rs 10,000 from only those who were contesting on the party ticket. Right now, all the seat aspirants would have to deposit the amount.
The KPCC meeting also approved the candidature of newly-appointed Electricity Minister K Muraleedharan from the Wadakkancherry assembly constituency.
