Islamabad, Dec 28: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale rattled parts of northern and western Pakistan near the border with Aghanistan today, but there were no immediate reports of injury or damage. An official of seismic centre in Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province, said that the quake was felt in northern Dir district.
''The quake recorded at 0910 hrs local time (0940 hrs IST) was also felt here in Peshawar,'' the official added.
He said the epicentre was 250 km north of Peshawar near the Afghan border in the Hindu Kush mountain range. ''It must have been felt in Afghanistan as well,'' he added.
