Two cops held in graft case, remanded to PC till June 16
Mumbai, Jun 12: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a police inspector and a sub-inspector of police from Sangli on charge of accepting bribe from a jewellery artisan in Zaveri Bazaar in south Mumbai.
Mumbai, Jun 12: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a police inspector and a sub-inspector of police from Sangli on charge of accepting bribe from a jewellery artisan in Zaveri Bazaar in south Mumbai.
Inspector Suresh Pawar and sub-inspector Adhikar Pol were arrested yesterday and produced today before a special court which remanded them to police custody till June 16.
The duo had come from Sangli to question Khalaluddin Shaikh, an artisan, in a dacoity case.
They threatened to arrest him if he did not pay a bribe of Rs 25,000. The victim informed the ACB which laid a trap and arrested the accused.
