Chennai July 11: An Indian born US ophthalmologist Suresh Pandey, who has done research on cataracts all over the world, would be honoured by the Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society, at a convention here today. The three day convention, which would discuss Intraocular Implant and Refrative Surgery, would also witness live surgeries by international experts, secretary of the organising committee Dr Amar Agarwal told reporters today.

During the convention, a live surgery, called sealed lens capsule irrigation, which prevents secondary cataract, would be performed, he said. Dr Pandey, who was also present at the conference, said phaconit technique, which could operate cataract upto one mm depth, invented by Dr Amar in 1998, had been accepted by the doctors in over 100 countries in the world and it had become popular in United States now.
